Hi,
The possible causes of your
galactorrhea are:
-If you are not using any contraceptives and if you had
unprotected intercourse around the time of ovulation, the possibility of
pregnancy cannot be excluded.
In that case, please go for a urine pregnancy test once.
-Breast tenderness can be seen in premenstrual period, which will usually subside after onset of periods.
Now, as you are having tenderness and galactorrhea, elevated serum
prolactin levels or
injury and /or friction to the nipples has to be ruled out.
So, please consult your Gynecologist once, get examined and go for serum prolactin level estimation. If she suggests you may need to go for sonomammaogram also. With this workup the possible cause of your problem can be identified and treatment can be planned accordingly.
Meanwhile cold compresses to the breast can relieve the pain to some extent.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
