What Causes Light Vaginal Bleeding After Missing A Contraceptive Pill?

I missed one pill during my second week, I began bleeding about a day or two later and have continued bleeding lightly since then. I am currently on the second day of the placebo week and am bleeding, but more lightly than usual. I would like to know if this is usual when missing a pill?
