What Causes Light Vaginal Spotting While On Treatment For Yeast Infection?
After having bleeding after sexual inter course swabs were taken by my gp. The results came back as borderline and I was diagnose with a yeast infection. I was given canesten pessary and cream. Two days after the pessary I have noticed a small amount of pink blood when I wipe and about a small amount of a pad. I am not due on my period for 5 more days. This is the first time I have had thrush and I have also been diagnosed with oral thrush. Is this bleeding something I need to be worried about?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
It is not uncommon to experience some light vaginal spotting or discharge while using the anti-fungal treatment for yeast infection. This can happen due to irritation of the vaginal walls or disruption of the normal vaginal flora during treatment.
However, if the bleeding is heavy or accompanied by severe pain or fever, it is important to consult with your healthcare provider to rule out any other underlying conditions or complications. It is also a good idea to follow up with your healthcare provider about your oral thrush diagnosis and treatment, as this may be related to your vaginal yeast infection.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
