What Causes Lighter Periods?

i usually have very heavy periods with alot of clotting and cramps....this month ive had terrible cramps but only the 1st day... now im blthie me....could someoreding but not heavy as i usually do. Its a bright red or pinkish color with no clotting,and no more cramps....its not my normal period. could something be wrong?
