What Causes Lighter Periods?

I'm 35 years old and had regular periods. They are usually VERY heavy with clots. I recently got my period and it was very light only having to wear a panty liner which is very unusual for me. I am not on birth control or anyother type of medication. I have noticed that I've been brusing easily as well. Overall I feel fine physicaly and emotionaly. I exercise daily.
