What Causes Lightheadedness And Finger Numbness After Mitral Valve Repair?

I had mitral valve repair 4 months ago in Cleveland Clinic and having lightheaded and numb fingers from time to time. My Cardiologist thought it might be being dehyradated because pressure kept going down after exam. Felt great for a couple of weeks, today I had another bad eposide.

there is no obvious link between what you have described and the surgery. The combination of light headed and fingers numb is most commonly due to anxiety and hyperventilation. After surgery, you may not need the anxiety because chest wall irritation as you breath sometimes makes you breath shallow and fast. Next time you have these symptoms, count your breaths in a one minute period. Keep a record.
