What Causes Lingering Cough While Suffering From Bronchitis?

Hello
I was diagnosed with acute bronchitis since October, 28th 2016. Most of the symptoms are gone (mucus and all) but I am still coughing. This time my coughs are not dry like they were 2 weeks ago, but they are wet and I also feel a little burning itching sensation to my lungs when I cough now. It is normal to still cough even after almost 3 weeks?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As a physician I would like to tell you that it is absolutely not normal to have persistent cough after 3 weeks. Thus, I would suggest that you should visit your treating physician as soon as possible to take further treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
