What Causes Lip Blisters With Skin Crusting, Peeling, Cracking, Tingling And Soreness?

My bottom lip broke out in blisters like a cold sore and then the whole top layer of skin crusted and came off but now the middle of my lip is still cracked and will not heal. It is very constantly tingling and very sore. The tip of my tongue is also tingling and feels like I burned it. What could be the problem?

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Most likely the episode of cold sore was complicated by secondary bacterial infection as suggested by delayed healing, crusting and cracking.
I would suggest a course of an oral antibacterial for a week. My choice would be either flucloxacillin Or Cephalexin.
Oral antibacterials are prescription drugs and therefore I would suggest that you talk to your physician for the needful.
Topically you may use an OTC topical antibacterial e.g 2% mupirocin ointment, twice daily for a week

Regards
