What Causes Liquid Discharge From The Ear?

Hello, when I woke up in the middle of the night my entire ear was wet on the inside. I wiped it dry with toilet tissue and fell back to sleep. I woke up a few hours later and it was wet again. I completed my day, came home and took a nap and just woke up and my ear was wet again. What is causing this?

Hi,

The discharge from the ear can be most probably due to infection in the ear. If the discharge is continuous then you should once consult an Otorhinolaryngologist and get evaluated.

A clinical examination can be done to rule out the exact cause of the discharge and treatment can be done accordingly.

In case there is an infection, you can be advised a course of antibiotics like Augmentin and antibiotic and decongestant nasal drops.

Also, do not try to clean the ear on your own as it can lead to damage of eardrum. Avoid excessive water exposure to the ears.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
