What Causes Little Bumps On The Arms While On Metformin?
I am taking metformin as I am type 2 diabetic I was told there is trace in leukocytes I am now taking sulfamet/trimetho and now I have little goose bumps on arms and my heart is beating like crazy... also I was also on lisinopril because my pressure was high but I kept coughing so the other dr referred me to take amlodipine. I have now have my pressured lowered... do I need to still take the amlodipine as I am controlling my sodium. I want to stop taking the sulfate/trimetho as it has me in hives and my heart is palpitating... this is crazy
You are right, Trimethoprim/Sulfamethoxazole may cause allergy in many people. That's what seems to be your skin bumps. I personally understand its very important to stop taking it and ask your doctor for alternative antibiotics.
Regarding the Amlodipine, you should not stop it, as the salt restriction is many times not sufficient to control the BP.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
