What Causes Loss In The Sense Of Taste And Smell?

I lost the majority of my sense of taste anssmell after a head cold about 3 years ago. I left it too long, figuring it would come back as it had in the past. I figure I have about a 20% capacity for taste now and less for smell. Is the damage permanent?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Well, loss of sense of taste and smell is commonly seen in co-ordination as these senses are inter-related but if it would be related to cold then it would have resolved since long..

As far as it is appearing it is looking like to be due to nerve damage or brain trauma..

Consult a Neurophysician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination can be done along with investigations like MRI can to confirm the cause and will be treated accordingly..

As of now take Vitamin B complex and Zinc supplements..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
