Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Loss Of Appetite And Metallic Taste In The Mouth After Hysterectomy?
Had hysterectomy week and 1/2 ago. Can t keep food down, nauseated, went back to hospital dehydrated. Didn t find anything wrong, sent back home. Can t eat, try to eat and stomach tightens up, throw up, also have metallic taste in mouth. Nothing tastes good. YYYY@YYYY
As per my surgical experience, the loss of appetite and metallic mouth after a week of hysterectomy indicates possible drug induced effects of antibiotics given for healing and prevention of secondary bacterial infection; analgesic medicines as tramadol hydrochloride giving stomach upset most likely. Kindly provide me a list of current medications for better understanding of the root cause and guide accordingly. Primary relief with gargles of salted lukewarm water added peppermint oil 3 times a day.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
