What Causes Loss Of Appetite In A Diabetic Patient?

My husband has lost his appetite...has lost 40 pounds in6-8 months. He is Type 2 diabetic and had his thyroid gland removed about two years ago. Had a checkup at docs first of this year and did not share the fact that food just does not taste good very often. She was pleased with weight loss! He has now lost 6 pounds in the last month. What should he do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
lack of appetite with loss of weight is a symptom which suggest uncontrolled diabetes & demands investigation like complete diabetic profile to diagnose/ exclude complications like ketoacidosis or gastroparalysis & get urgent needful treatment from a diabetologist.
Thanks.
