What Causes Loss Of Balance, Shaking, Rapid Weight Loss And Fatigue?

My friends twin sister - 57 years old, had rapid weight loss, 40 pounds in 4 months. shakes worse then a 90 year old person, loss of balance, strength, ability to stand and care for herself, even after a shower. Trouble with 2 stairs to her kitchen. Testing say her organs are all good. What could be taking her down this fast?

The symptoms you describe may be caused by many medical conditions.Unexplained weight loss at such a rapid rate may give her all the symptoms you describe.Possible causes may include:
-adrenal insufficiency,
-Celiac disease
-Changes in diet or appetite, sense of smell and sense of taste
-Crohn's disease
-Dementia
-Dental problems
-Depression (major depressive disorder)
-Diabetes
-Heart failure
-HIV/AIDS
-Hypercalcemia
-Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid)
-Hypothyroidism
-Medications
-Parkinson's disease
-Peptic ulcer
-Substance abuse (alcohol, cocaine, other)
-Tuberculosis
-Ulcerative colitis
There are just many possible causes.I will suggest she see the Doctor for more extensive work-ups.Depending on the diagnostic orientation of the Doctor from physical examination findings, objective tests will be requested that may help identify the cause of her problem.
