What Causes Loss Of Strength In Quadriceps?

What would make you lose power in your legs? I have hypothyroidism and am on Synthroid and Cytomel. My knees have osteoarthritis and bilateral medial meniscal tears that surgeons won't repair due to the osteo. Why would my quadriceps be losing strength?
