Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have noticed mostly a change in taste, food does not have much taste over the past 4-5 days. Also have mildly red, irritated throat. No fever, no other URI symptoms, occasional mild headache. There is a virus circulating the work area. I feel like a URI is starting, some post nasal drip, but not progressing per typical course for me.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of loss of taste and throat discomfort which is due to bacterial infection and seems mainly due to infection of sinuses.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to
- Do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day.
- Avoid spicy and sharp food.
- Take soft foods to avoid irritation to the throat. Milk boiled with a pinch of turmeric taken at bedtime for can be relieving as it has antimicrobial properties.
Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper diagnosis. You should go for X-ray of paranasal sinuses. Throat lozenges along with proper cleanliness will be helpful for you.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
