What Causes Loss Of Voice Upon Usage Of Symbicort?

My husband had an annoying dry cough for weeks,went to the doc,xray chest ,blood test,all came out ok He was given simbocort,has been taking it every 12 hrs and he is coughing less BUT has lost his voice He feels fine,not tired. Should he go down to once a day for a fw days then stop? Marianne Puerto Rico

1. Symbicort ( inhaled budesonide and formetrol fumarate dihydrate stetoid) is a long acting bronchodilator and is used to prevent bronchospasm in people with lung disease and causes hoarseness of voice (as a side effect) and occurs when after using it one does not wash/rinse his mouth.

2. It will be better to consult with your attending physician or chest specialist for any other alternative inhaler or you have to wash your mouth with water after each dose and then gargle to rinse your throat everytime after taking symbicort.
