What Causes Lost Of Taste And Smell?

Hello, I have lost my taste and smell for 9 days now. I've had lots of colds before and only lost taste for day. I am on my 5th day of antibiotics. I think I have infection due to greenishyellow velm. I could be suffering from hay fever as well. This cold has been hanging round for 3 months.

Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post are attributed to the Respiratory tract infection.
As your nasal mucosa is congested & the olfactory component is deranged, you are not able to appreciate the sensation of smell & taste.
Since your treating Doctor has started you on antibiotics, it will take care of the infection & you will be fine soon. Kindly take the medications as advised.

Additional management will involve:
1. Steam inhalation.
2. Antihistamine preparations can be used to provide symptomatic relief.
3. Maintain adequate hydration & a healthy balance diet.
4. Also make sure that you are well protected from cold, dust & other allergens.

Your symptoms will be relieved with this.
Wish you good health & a speedy recovery.
Take care.
