What Causes Low BP After Reducing The Meloxicam Dosage?

I have been experiencing low blood pressure after decreasing my Meloxicam to once every other day. I have been taking 100mg of Losardan Potassium for hypertension but have had to discontinue it due to the drop in my pressure (88/69 Has been lowest reading.) I am a 60 year old female. Is this typical, given my decrease in the Meloxicam?

Hello,

Meloxicam can cause fluid retention and thus increased blood pressure. What may be happening now is that while you reduce the dose of Meloxicam you are having less fluid retention and your blood pressure is more "normal" then previously so probably you need a lower dose of blood pressure medications.

So, I would advise you to just watch your blood pressure in the next 2-3 weeks, keep a record of the values and times of the day and the date that you do the measurements and send these recorded values to your doctor so he can decide if you need blood pressure medications and if yes, which is the dose.

I hope this answers your query and is helpful to you. Let me know if I may assist you further.
