Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi My husband is 67 and is on a low dose lisenopril. In the last 2 days he has experienced very low BP symptoms. Yesterday it was 74/54. Today we couldn t take it but he was out in the heart and became lightheaded, pale and was yawning. It took 30 minutes or more for him to feel well enough to get up and walk. Could he be overmedicated. He has had a cold and cough for a few days and was taking Tussin DM but hasn t taken it for about 24 hours.
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using 'Ask a Doctor'. A blood pressure that low is concerning, and especially with his symptoms and feeling sick, he may have a more dangerous infection that is causing this as well. I would recommend that you bring him to the ER and have him evaluated to be safe. In the meantime, I would stop giving the lisinopril until he is seen by a doctor.
I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions about that, and I would be glad to discuss it with you further.
