Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Low RBC and low platelets and may be associated with low WBC is always seen in anemia of central origin, that is, defective production of blood cells.Possible causes of such anemia may include -Aplastic anemia -Vitamin B12 and iron deficiencies -HIV, Epstein-Barr virus, and other viral infections -Cancer treatments -Imbibing in alcohol -Cirrhosis -Various forms of cancer -Some medications and may other causes Given the fact that it is a problem he has always had and also, the characteristic of his anemia has not been detailed, knowing the exact cause may be difficult.A picture on the hemmogram to see the percentages of the various blood components would have help to better know possible causes.I will suggest you see the Hematologist as recommended by the Doctor for evaluation. Hope my answer will help you Best regards
