Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, My name is Millie I am 11 weeks pregnant. On Nov 12 I was 9 weeks and the doctor appointment they draw some blood to be tested. That same day they called me that my Thyroid was low -THS 0.2 and need it to come back in 2 weeks to be tested again. I went in last week and they call me today still low now as 0.1. I asked about my T3 and T4 and they say those came back normal. To come back again in 3 to 4 weeks for another blood test. I am concern because I was reading about the importance of this on the fetus development as I am on the 1st trimester. This is my second pregnancy and with my 1st pregnancy I have none of this issue. I did lose 10 pounds and I have been very sick with nausea and some throwing up (maybe 3 times) but more nausea all day long. I would like to know what should I do as I am concerned with this test numbers been so low and what to do in the meantime as I am very nervous for the baby at this point. As to mention the doctor thinks is because my hormones levels right now are up and down and I have never have a Thyroid issues in my life and I am 32 years old. Please I will appreciate your advice.
You seem to be having mild hyperthyroidism in which TSH is low but all other parameters (especially free T4) are normal. This grade of hyperthyroidism does not require any treatment and usually settles on its own. We should especially avoid anti-thyroid medication as it can cross the placenta and reach the fetus thus interefering with the fetus's thyroid profile.
Best wishes.
