What Causes Low WBC And ANC Levels After Breast Cancer Surgery?
my daughter underwent breast cancer surgery ( double mastectomy), (Only CA in one breast lymph nodes negative) Sept 2015 then chemotherapy finished last spring 2016 , she also had reconstructive surgery with textured type implants last spring, She now tells me she is neutropenia with low WBC and low ANC and high globulins, My concern is for recent study I read about associated Large cell lymphoma occurrence in these types of implants. Any other information/concern you can guide me toward
First of all, it's sad to know what your daughter had been going through lately.
Based on the history you have shared, it can be the case of post-chemotherapy bone marrow suppression as some chemotherapeutic agents cause bone marrow fibrosis or depression.
Chances of lymphoma with this blood picture are rare but bone marrow biopsy or aspiration needs to be done.
With low ANC count sepsis protocol antibiotics, coverage and barrier nursing may also be needed if fever spikes appear. Otherwise, strict care for infection control needs to be done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin,
