What Causes Low WBC Count And Swollen Lymph Node After An Eye Infection?

I recently had an infection around my eye and was put on antibiotics, also saw an eye dr. and was put on drops in my eye, after I was having headaches behind the eye. Shortly after, I had blood work done as my annual exam...my white blood cell count was 3.6, a little low. Yesterday I woke and I have a swollen lump under my armpit. Any reason to believe this is connected in any way?

Hi,

The infection can cause lymph node enlargement and so you can have enlarged node in underarm.

The infection can cause temporary bone marrow suppression and so total WBC count can be low.

I suggest you complete antibiotic course and after one week repeat CBC and inspect armpit for swelling.

If swelling still present than FNAC need to be done for further work up.

Hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
