General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Significant hypokalemia can be a part of major metabolic disturbance as hyper insulin secretion pumping potassium into the cells, disorders of kidneys where there is no re-absorption of potassium, excess loss as use of chronic diuretic therapy or others. Let me know the details of symptoms, evaluation reports and current drug therapy dosages so that better prediction can be made out from bunch of possibilities.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
