What Causes Low Blood Pressure After A Knee Replacement Surgery?

My friend who is a woman that is 55-65 years old had a knee replacement and she has had 2 heart attacks since. Last night she said that her blood pressure was 60/40 and I am concerned about her and trying to get her to go to the doctor. She had the knee surgery less than a month ago.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Heart attacks and hypertension are generally not related to knee replacement surgery. These are different entities and both happen with age.
The blood pressure being 60/40 recently is abnormal (too low) and she needs to see the doctor as soon as possible. This is because a heart attack may cause heart failure and low blood pressure, and urgent treatment is needed in this case.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
