Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been on atenanol for 13 years and over time my blood pressure has steadly dropped to 111 over50 I am so weak and tremble a lot that I can barely function day to day. I quit taking it 3 days ago and feel better but understand not to just stop taking this medicine is dangerous. When can I expect it be out of my system? And how long before the dangers of just stopping will go away?
Don't stop taking atenolol suddenly. If you do, you may experience worse chest pain and other symptoms. I suggest you do an electrocardiogram and a consult with Cardiologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
