General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Normal body temperature is 98.6 degrees but if it is under attack of hypothermia it can fall as low as 86 degrees. Commonly hypothermia occurs due to cold exposure.

Thyroid dysfunction or diabetes, medications, trauma & drug abuse, alcohol intake; all trigger hypothermia.

Normal activity of the liver and heart produce most of the body heat, when these two major organs move towards some undetected complication or failure, the body may become hypothermic.

The patient may experience symptoms like fatigue, weakness, weak pulse, memory loss, low energy or irritant, etc.

You are suggested to visit ER, get physically examined. Get all the required tests & investigations done to detect the factor causing low body temperature.

Get treated at the earliest. You may require medical attention & intravenous fluids to maintain your vitals.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
