What Causes Low Body Weight And Hair Loss Despite A Normal Thyroid Report?
My chiropractor thinks I may have hyperthyroidism. I am thin, but I eat (my mother is thin at 100 yrs old), blood tests for thyroid have been normal, somewhat anxious, have thin hair (since I was a teenager), my hair is shiney & my skin is shiney (per chiro). At 68 I work full-time & am increasingly tired. Is there a more definitive test for thyroid?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You can check for free T3 and T4 with TSH.
Other possibilities like iron, zinc , chromium deficiency or protein deficiency. Age related hormonal imbalance with hair loss etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.
Avoid spicy food and caffeinated drinks. Use multivitamin tablet once a day for one month.
If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query.
