What Causes Low Fever Along With Chest Congestion And Runny Nose?

I have been running a light fever since the 29th of April. I have congestion and drainage and spit up a lot of phlemn and a lot of coughing. I thought I might have a tick but have checked and do not. I keep telling everyone that it is allergies because of the strange weather we have been having in Oklahoma. Mary

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Let me know are you having fever, chest pain, and dyspnea like complaint. It can be an allergic inflammation as well. Your work-up done as follows:
• CBC with AEC
• Auscultation
• Chest x-ray if needed
• Sputum examination only if needed

You can be prescribed Ambroxol like mucolytic drug for cough expectoration. If AEC high then it is allergic case and fexofenadine is prescribed for that. If you are having fever and high count then antibiotic course is prescribed. Consult physician for examination and discuss all these.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
