What Causes Low Grade Fever And Headache In A Child?

My 9 year old daughter has had a low grade fever for 4 days. My husband recently got over over a virus where he had a fever for 6 days. She is complaining of a major headache. I really think it is the same virus but am concerned it could be something more. She did not have a fever today, but still has the headache. Do you think she is on the mend or should we go into a doctors office?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

According to provided history she has acquired upper respiratory tract viral infection. It can spread through the respiratory tract. So she got the infection from your husband. Symptomatic management is done for viral infection.

For headache, Paracetamol syrup can be prescribed for her. If no improvement in 2-3 days than she needs to consult nearby pediatrician for detailed evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
