What Causes Low Hemoglobin Levels And Weakness?

Hello. I was just in the hospital, for shortness of breath, my cardiac workup was fine, ( I do have a pacemaker and A fib) but my Hemoglobin is 9.3 down from 11 last Dec, and low B 12. I did have a gastic bypass in 2002 which is fine, no problems (lost 186). Wondering why my hemoglobin is so low. My Dr did a rectal exam and said it wasn t from there. I am still feeling ill, very weak, and taking iron TID 325mg. qd, and had 2 iron infusions and 2 B12 injections while in the hospital. I am pushing the red meat in my diet and OJ with my iron which I crush when I take it. My Dr. has me off work for this week. Why do I still feel so ill?

Hi,

The line of treatment is correct. Improve your diet. You can take a fresh leafy vegetable, fishes which are rich in iron. Your problem is mainly due to iron deficiancy. After taking have enough iron now can do follow up if iron level is normal and if it comes to normal take dose of iron as per need.
