What Causes Low Neutrophils And High Lymphocytes Levels?

My son has had blood work done about 4 times and all times he has had low neutrophils (23%) and high lymphocytes (68%) for his age (4 years old). The blood work was done for developmental delays with metabolics and genetics. His previous pediatrician was not concerned because the numbers fell within the very broad range but his new doctor said the percentages are opposite what they should be and could be indicative of a virus. I read that it could also be linked to lymphoma or leukemia. So just curious if you have any thoughts on that. I will point out that with each test the neutrophils keep getting lower and the lymphocytes keep getting higher.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
At the age of years, the lymphocyte count is higher than the neutrophil count.
So, 23% neutrophils and 68% lymphocytes at the age of 4 years is a normal finding.
There is nothing abjormal.
For other problems i.e. developmental delay and other metabolic disorders, other relevant investigations have to be done.

Consult your peditrician for further management of sevelopmental disorders.

Thanks and take care
