Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I'm taking propranolol 20mg for migraines. I have only been taking it for a few days, but i am also a pharmacy technician so I knew I needed to check my blood pressure when I started feeling funny. My BP is fine it's 119/80 but my pulse rate is only 53. What do I need to do?
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Propranolol is a beta-blocker drug. The drug is one of commonly used anti-hypertensive drug. It is also used in anxiety disorders and in migraine prophylaxis. The drug is known to reduce BP and also pulse rate. Your BP of 119/80 is perfectly fine and no need to worry. Pulse rate of 53 while on 20 mg of Propranolol is also fine and no need to worry. Next time when you visit your doctor please ask for dose adjustments if needed. In my opinion no need to do anything right now.
Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care.
