Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi sir, My father is suffering from low level of sodium in blood since one year(after getting head injury) we take CT, MRI but two scanning are normal. Doctors saying it is due to electrolyte imbalances. please tell me how to regulate this sodium level permanently?
First of all it's sad to know what your father had been going through lately.
Based on the history you have shared, it can be due to a condition called SIADH which follows head trauma in some. For permanent betterment demeclocycline treatment may be needed.
Endocrinologist review is a must. Intravenous sodium replacement is also needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
