What Causes Lower Abdominal Bruising Without An Injury?

I have a bruise that appeared on the left side if my mid abdomen. It started small, a slightly blue discoloration. In the past five days it has gotten bigger and darker and now has purple dots. And is tender. I have diabetes, under active thyroid, and sarcoidosis (and small vessel vasculitis as a symptom of the sarcoidosis). What could cause such a bruise? I did not hurt myself or get bitten. The bruise is growing and worsening. Thanks!

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi. This bruise could be because of vasculitis. Other causes could include bacterial infection like cellulitis (since its tender and you are diabetic). Bruises are generally not tender. Consult your dermatologist immediately and you may start an oral antibiotic like cephalexin meanwhile. Hope it helps.
