What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain After Eating?

I have lower abdominal pain about an hour after I eat. It s not one side or the other, but my whole intestinal area. The pain gets pretty bad almost like the beginning of labor pains and then after an hour or so it slowly subsides and then it disappears until I try to eat again. I m getting really frustrated and scared. I went to the walk in clinic and the dr suggested it was IBS and gave me dicyclomine 20mg to take 3 times a day before eating, but this doesn t seem to be helping. Any thoughts as to what is happening?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

I agree with your doctor that the symptoms seem to be related to irritable bowel syndrome.
I suggest to use spasmolytics such as the medication that you are already using.
I also suggest to use daily probiotics and eat a healthy diet.
I recommend to drink liquids.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
