What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain And Bloating?

Four months ago I had awful low abdominal pain pressure and bloating. It also radiated to my back and sides. I had a cat scan done and said I had small ovarian cysts on my left ovary and they couldn't locate my right one. My dr said to wait it out or get on birth control. It's been four months and I constantly feel pain. Some days worst than others but its driving me crazy. I have an appt mon to see a Gyno. Could it be more serious?
