Hi,
Yasmin contains both ethinyl estradiol and drospirenone which is used in the prevention of unwanted pregnancies from unprotected sexual intercourses. It is also used to restore normal menstrual cycle, decrease blood loss and reduce the risk of developing ovarian cysts. Women with
oral contraceptive pills like Yasmin are prone to develop
vaginal Candidiasis or vaginal yeast infection by Candida albicans.
Symptoms of
vaginal infection are cheese like white
vaginal discharge, odorless discharge, itching, abdominal pain, pain during micturition etc., and Antifungal like Clotrimazole is the treatment of choice here. Side effects of Yasmin are nausea, vomiting,
abdominal bloating, indigestion, heartburn, changes in appetite, headache, fatigue, unusual tiredness and weakness, exhaustion, allergic reactions etc. These side effects are mild and usually go away over time on their own. If you have any doubt about pregnancy, then you can do blood test for beta hCG to confirm your pregnancy.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician
