General Surgeon 's  Response
HI.
The pain in the lower abdomen on exertion can be due to the following reasons:
-Inguinal hernia as your Physician told. Get this checked from a General Surgeon. He would ask you to cough and see if there is any reducible lump in the area of inguinal canal. He would also see for the probable other causes.
-Myalgia- muscular one, repeated trauma can cause fibrositis and incite pain every time you strain the muscles.
_ recurrent Torsion of the Testis ( if you are a male).

You should get a proper physical examination and investigations particularly when you are in pain.
