Hi Chris,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

Atorvastatin is belonging to the statin drug class used to treat high cholesterol levels. Its use is associated with muscle damage and weakness.

The extreme low back and hip pain you are experiencing since starting Atorvastatin could be due to its use. However, if I was your caring doctor would run further diagnostic tests to rule out other pathologies like arthritis of the back and hip joint. X-ray of the back and hip joint is recommended in this case.

If no high cholesterol problems, and no cardio-vascular issues, the use of Atorvastatin is not beneficial. So, you can stop taking it if the dose used is the low one (10 mg or 20 mg). If higher, should change to lower dose first then stop it.

Implementing healthy diet and lifestyle changes are more beneficial then atorvastatin use.

Hope this helps.
