Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Lower Back Pain, Lightheadedness And Vaginal Spotting After Unprotected Intercourse?
I been off my period already but after sexual intercourse (unprotected) I bled a little, and after that I got lightheaded. Everyday after that I been bleeding, light, but not light enough for a panty liner. More for a need to wear a pad. After 3 days, the blood is very dark. Almost brown or black. And has a foul smell. I been waiting for a gynecologist appointment but I m scared to tell anyone. I also had extreme lower back pain. ( which is why I mentioned intercourse.) Could I be pregnant ? Or having a miscarriage? Maybe even something worse?...
Based on the history you have shared, these can be signs of pelvic inflammatory disease or other infective disorders including sexually transmitted one and hopefully will be reversible with antibiotics. You will need ultrasound pelvis, beta HCG levels, as well as high vaginal swabs an STD screen.
Meanwhile use protection during intercourse. For symptomatic relief you can use anti spasmodic like Drotavarine as well as OTC analgesic like acetaminophen.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
