What Causes Lower Back Pain On The Left Side?

I have been having lower back pain on the left side, which occurs mainly at night. If I take ibuprofin, it helps. It does wake me up at night, since I can t get comfortable no matter which way I lay. I do some lifting as I take care of my husband, who is in a wheelchair. I don t lift him, but I do have to lift his legs on and off the bed. Any ideas?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

As per the facts you said,it seems that you are having muscular pain over your lower back.

Also, you said regarding pain relief with ibuprofen medications,it also suggestive of pain related to musculoskeletal origin.

You can apply pain killer gel locally with hot water fomentation which will surely give you some relief.

If symptoms remains persistent then i would suggest to under go X-ray scan of the lower spine to detect the underlying cause.

Consult physician for further advise.

Regards,
