What Causes Lower Back Pain When Suffering From UTI??

I had burning sensation and discomfort while urinating. Went to a walk in health clinic and was treated for UTI and was prescribed Cipro. Clots of blood continue to come from my urine for another 5 to 6 hours, and the pain did not stop until two days later. The pain in my lower back suddenly came over night and the clinic called me and stated no infection was found in my urine, yet when the sample was taken clump of tissue was found in my urine before the bleeding got heavy. The pain in my back is getting worse by the moment. I called my OBGYN and they referred me to a specialist for kidney stones. Is there anything else to check for?

Hello,

Chronic UTI may take long to get cured. Continue to take the medicines prescribed after R/E & C/S of urine. Stay well hydrated, avoid public washrooms & toilets.

Blood in urine is commonly seen in bladder infection or bladder cancer, kidney disease or kidney stones. Lower back pain may be indicative of kidney stones.

You are suggested to get clinically examined & get USG, CT, IVP (kidney & bladder) done. You will be treated with pain relieving medicines, medicines to help easy passing of urine or surgery.

Type of surgery if required will depend upon on type of stones detected. Percutaneous nephrolithotomy, use of ureteroscope to remove stones, wave lithotripsy, etc.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
