What Causes Lower Backache Along With Vaginal Bleeding?

My daughter is 28 years old with 2 small children. She has been experiencing lower back pain and for the last 6 days has had vaginal bleeding. Her period is not due for another week. She is also experiencing some hair loss at the front of her hairline. She said it doesn t feel like a normal period, no cramping. At first the blood she passed was dark but now it is brighter in colour. She is concerned something is wrong. She is going to see the family Dr. Any advice?She is upset. I don t want to alarm her.

Hello,

It seems your daughter is suffering from dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Irregular periods along with heavy bleeding can be due to many reasons. Some of the common causes being fibroid uterus, ovarian cyst endometriosis. The diagnosis can be made by doing an ultrasound. Since your daughter already has an appointment with the gynecologist you can wait for a few days. For now, she can take tablet Tranexamic acid thrice daily to control the bleeding. If there is a pain, she can take tablet mefenamic acid for alleviating pain.
