What Causes Lower Left-sided Pain While Treating Kidney And Heart Problems?

My dad is 76 has a bronchial wheeze and has been coughing and sneezing with a runny nose. He is on oxygen and is taking albuteral prednisone and lots of other medications related to the heart kidney diabetes blood pressure sugar and dementia. He isccomplaining of pain on lower left side. Not sure what to do for him to feel comfortable.

Hello,

As you have not mentioned lower left side of which part, I'm assuming it as lower left side of abdomen. The following are few probable causes of lower left side of abdomen:
1) Irritable bowel syndrome
2) Inflammatory bowel syndrome
3) Ischemic colitis
4) Mesenteric adenitis
5) Urinary stones
6) Hernia

My recommendations are as follows:
1) Wait and see if it reduces by itself.
2) If it increases, give tab. Buscopan and wait for it to subside
3) If it doesn't subside even after taking tablet, please do consult a gastroenterologist.
4) Then you need to be further evaluated for other causes of pain.
