Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am David McClure.I just wanted to thank Dr.Chintan Solanki. for his opinion as to what would be best steps to take in regards to my health. I had a concerned mother. I am happy to see a psychiatrist to determine my state of mental health in relation a lump on the back of my head. The story behind is hard to believe and hard to tell.I would not believe it if I were assessing my own condition I work in a call centre and allot of them have lumps on the back of their heads. I have grown my hair to increase the size the lump so I can go back to show a doctor so they can see it is there. I would love it to be dillusional and hope it is because I want to move on with my life.
Lump on back of head is not due to any psychiatric disorder. Lump on back of head or nape of neck can be due to benign growth of any of connective tissue like fat, fibrous tissue etc.
I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC). FNAC is an office procedure wherein a needle is inserted into the lump, cells are aspirated and stained to determine the nature of cells forming the lump.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri
