What Causes Lump Behind The Ear, Earache And Tender Scalp?

I went in to the doctor 1 week ago because of a lump behind my ear. They told me it was a swollen lymph node and that I was probably fighting something. I still have the lump, but now I have an earache as well, and my scalp has been tender to the touch for the past couple of weeks. Are there any connections?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
An earache can be due to infection or inflammation in the ear.
A lump behind the ear could be due to enlarged post-auricular lymph node.
An ear infection can give rise to lymph node enlargement.
A clinical assessment of the ear by an ENT specialist is required to look for the cause of ear ache.
Besides infection and inflammation, impacted wax in the ear can also cause ear ache.
Thus, clinical assessment is required.
The lymph node behind the ear also needs to be investigated.
An aspiration cytology of the post-auricular lump is required to know the cause of lymph node enlargement.
Thus, consult an ENT specialist for ear ache and lymph node enlargement for further management.

Thanks and take care
