Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Lump In Mouth Along With Difficulty While Swallowing?
I seem to be experiencing some discomfort due to a lump within my tongue towards the left side. Discomfort occurs with swallowing or tongue movement and occurs down the left side of my throat. I would like to know what associations come with this description of location of discomfort. No family history of cancer and I am not a smoker.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of lump in mouth along with difficulty while swallowing which could be due to inflamed subepithelial lymphoid tissues . If there are inflammed sub epithelial tissue present along with tonsil enlargement it indicates bacterial infection . The infection of oral cavity like gum infection , tongue infection or tooth infection make these tissues inflamed. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult dentist/ oral pathologist for proper examination and to rule out upper respiratory infection . Doctor may examine oral cavity physically and may prescribe antibiotics for infection. For now do betadine rinses and gargles. You should maintain complete hygiene.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
