General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history related to rotator cuff surgery and you noticing the elongated swelling in the armpit.
This is not probably related to cut tendons as you have thought about.
The most common causes I can think about are as follows:
Lymph node enlargement.
Hidradenitis suppurativa.
Swelling tracked down the operative site.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult the operating Surgeon or a General Surgeon to have a proper clinical evaluation, examination and investigations like Ultrasonography of the affected area as this can give a proper diagnosis and a plan of management as needed.
Till then continue your treatment.
Clean the ara with plain water.
Apply Liquid Povidone Iodine locally.
Do not fondle the area as it can spread inflammation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, General Surgeon
